Summary:
I bought these clubs in 1997 and used them until last year when I went to custom fit Mizuno irons. These irons improved my game and were very easy to hit from the 3 to pw. The large head and wide sole make it a perfect beginner to mid handicaper club. The only real flaw for me was the graphite shaft was not stiff enough for my swing speed and it was hard to draw the ball. These are very light clubs and slightly longer than most all clubs I've used (The Mizunos are 1/2 club longer) I loved these clubs and would highly recommend them.

i dont know why callaway keeps coming up with new stuff...big bertha(big ugly)are probably the best iron i have ever hit alot better than the x-12,x-14,x-16,x-18,-x20 or ever whit the 1996 big bertha i have a feeling when i hit the ball cant work the ball as much as a blade,,but si forgiving and the distance is just superbe..i play around 60 rounds of golf a year..my game is around 75-79 i tried every thing on the market (demos) but always keep my old big bertha in the bag..why simply because they where the best 12 years ago and they are still the best now...dont let anyone tell you that these clubs have a too much wide sole, true the sole is wide but it cuts just right in any kind of ruff you can get these clubs for around 250.00 on ebay dont wait another day you wont regret buying those clubs

Summary:
Bought a 1 iron off ebay for £20 with an S300 stiff shaft mainly to help hitting my other long irons consistently. Don't have a problem hitting 3 and 5 woods off ground consistently. Found 1 iron very similar to use and an honest forgiving club also. Distance advantage over my 3 iron Taylor Made Midsize only 20 yards or so but club gives such confidence that you will hit true that it's always worth a try on the course without worrying too much. Have just picked up 2 iron for similar price and looking forward to trying. Nice clubs if you can find them and surprisingly flattering. Don't discount out of hand as an old man's club.
