Summary: I bought a used set in graphite a few years ago after years of tinkering with numerous other clubs. These Berthas are the best for someone who wants to get out there and enjoy a game of golf and not worry so much about working the ball. It's like having a bag full of "rescue clubs." They are so forgiving I don't get anxious when I walk up to my ball to hit anymore. I'm short off the tee and needed to be able to hit the long irons. This is the only set of clubs where I can confidently hit the 4 iron. I recently bought a set of the '06 Big Berthas and took them back for my 2002s! Now I can concentrate on chipping and putting, which is where I lose most of my strokes. I am a certified golf club junkie and have tried everything from blades (what was I thinking -- 89 is a good score for me?) to various other models (see below for similar products used.) I may tinker again but will NEVER part with this set.
Summary: i've owned this set for over 5 years. besides my walmart set this is the only one i have golfed with until recently. i decided to make the jump to blades (mizuno mp 32) and after a few rounds with them it makes me appreciate just how easy my bb's are to hit. if i miss the sweet spot with the blades they really punish, but a miss with my bb's would only result in a slight yardage drop that would leave me scratching my head. these are great sticks for the occasional golfer or someone looking for an immediate game improvment. but if ur serious about attempting to improve ur game u will eventually have to give them up. they will not give u any feedback, u will never be able to work the ball effectivlly and for me looking down at that shovel did not enstill alot of confidence. another note, i like to walk when i play, and my bag must weigh atleast 20 pounds less since i lost the shovels. thats a big diff during 18 holes. i give the value a 5 because i know u can get these clubs for $150 and thats great value for these clubs. for rating i would give a 3.5 because as good as these clubs are, they are very limited in what they offer. but for most thats more than enuff.

Model Reviewed: Big Bertha 2002 Irons
Summary: These have to be the easiest irons I have every used, I now step up to the ball with confidence, I have gained about ten to fifteen yards with the longer irons and have seemed to lose distance with the shorter wedges, they send the ball high and stop it dead, the best money I have ever spent.
Summary: Best game improvement irons. Better than Bertha 06 and the original 96. My previous irons were the X18s. Nice set too, but I need more help. Very solid feel, confidence boosting clubs. Generates consistent straight shots. These irons are great because they make me want to go out and play.
Customer Service: Callaway is great. Answers emails promptly. Sent me a 3 pack of headcovers free of charge.
Similar Products Used: The past two years I have bought and traded X18, X20, X14, Bertha 06, rac os2(good irons), mx900, nike nds, vft, ping I3+. I plan on keeping these Berthas for awhile.

Model Reviewed: Callaway Big Bertha Irons 2002
Summary: I have owned this set in graphite regular for 5 years. Like most people, I spent a lot of time looking for irons that were both easy to hit and accurate. If you can get over the fact that each iron looks bulky at address then you will do fine. But to think of it, Callaway was ahead of its time as we see all the hybrid irons coming out. I can say that after 5 years these are still my favorite irons. I very seldom hit shots that slice or fade - very little fat shots. Shots are mostly straight, high, and accurate. If you hit a really off shot it is most likely you and not the equipment. The variable face technology is quite nice and provide good feed back when the ball is struck dead center. The 4 iron is easy to hit. I realize that how far each person hits the ball and with what iron is relative. I did notice a considerable distance increase over the knock-offs I started with. For 150yds a 7 iron vs. an 8 iron with the BBI 2002. Overall, if you can find a set of these in good condition, I believe you would like them. It will need a little fine tuning to adapt them to your swing. One thing I learned early on is that you do not need to swing real hard to get these to perform. A nice easy swing will get you a good deal of distance. I am looking to get these in steel shafts as my game is getting better and need a bit more accuracy.
Customer Service: Great customer service. I bought the wrong set with stiff shafts. Sent it back to them. They refitted regular shafts and enlarged the grip and got them back to me fast.
