Adams SC 818 Series Titanium Driver

Summary:
I played this club from 2002 until this year. It was a great club that did as intended straightened out fades and reduced the pain of a slice. I also like the smaller head size and the quality shaft. On a good day i could consistently hit this ball 275-280 with most days being in the 250-260 range. However, the last couple years i begin to hit way to many draws/pulls with the club. Ultimately i retired it in favor a 8.5* Titleist 975D for that season.

Summary:
When I first started playing golf, I was knee high to a grasshopper. Subsequently, I didn't hit the ball long like my friends. I compinsated this by playing as straight as I could. However, dealing with a bad slice (over the fence half the time) didn't make this any easier. Then I found this old club collecting dust (literally) on the discount shelf of my local pro shop and after hitting some balls with it, I fell in love. I wouldn't leave the store untill after my dad went home and came back with the checkbook; I hovered around the rack guarding it like it was signed by Jack or something. After a few rounds with the club, my slice was under control, and the ball wasen't carrying off the fairway into the rough. My best friends dad wanted to know where I got lessons. I didn't know how it fixed my slice untill I read of the Adams website that the club was weighted for amateurs with a slice. I've had this club for about 4 years now, and I don't plan on putting it back on the discount shelf anytime soon.

Summary:
I bought this driver on ebay after trying it out at a local pro shop. I love this club. With the majority of the weight placed in the heal of the club, it really helps keep the head from turning out on you, thus the "sc" (spin control) in the name.

Adams promotes this club as being designed for the medium to high handicapper. I agree. Before buying the driver I was playing a knock off discount number 1 wood. (steel head) I had a terrible slice. Adams helped correct that and my drives were more accurate and longer.

On a good day I could strike the ball about 260 yards. With this driver I can regularly hit 275 and on a great day I'm hitting 290-300. The driver does have some shortcomings though. As I said, it is designed for the high handicapper. Once you start getting your swing down and the head speed gets a little faster the club becomes less accurate. Since dropping my handicap to around the 14 mark I have had to upgrade to a callaway.

However, if you are a 16+ handicapper and don't want to spend a ton of money for a decent driver, you can't go wrong with the 818. Give it a try.

It should be noted that I did end up needing to get the head reglued on the shaft. I like to think its because i'm such a powerful hitter though it may just be due to the amount of golfing the club has seen in the last two years.

Summary:
Purchased this club for 100 bucks took it to the driving range, and it immediately increased my distance by 40 yards. I have since worked on my swing, and I now am hitting the club consistently 250-275 yards with a 300 yarder every now an then. This is an excellent club with a good sized head. It doesn't feel like your swinging a bucket on the end of your club. I tried king cobra, cleveland, nike, and this one was comparable and 1/4 the price.
